Many of the big companies seem to take interest in sim racing these days. With McLaren picking their simulation driver through #WFG (The worlds fastest gamer), F1 running an awesome e series, virual racing is picking up!

Red Bull has recently run a poll, to figure out what gamers feel is the best racing game of 2017. The 3 games we’ll be scrolling down to, are Project Cars 2, F1 2017 and Forza.

Forza has dropped the ball hard this year, launching Forza 7 that mostly has dissapointed. Looking at the poll results, it got 5th place but most dissapointing is not that it was beaten by games like Gran Turismo and  Dirt 4, but that the 5 games it has beaten are games like Mario Super Kart, need for speed and a Nintendo Switch game. Forza has done nothing wrong though, besides going the wrong direction.

Project Cars 2

Project Cars 2 got a close second finish, and although not perfect (yet) deserves to be up there. Even though it has fewer cars than Forza, they work a lot better, and even though there are a few bugs, they have sticked to an idea that eventually will work.

F1 2017

F1 2017 has been my favorite racing game, since i dropped Forza, and it also won the poll of RedBull. The game seems to work as expected, carreer is fun, and even practice sessions are challenging, entertaining and interesting. In the long run, i think Project Cars will be more interesting, especially when it eventually works better, but for now, and as the games stand, F1 2017 seems to be the best balanced, best developed and most fun racer game around.

About The Author

I've been hooked on racing games, ever since the Burnout series back in the late 90s and after going through some painful years trying to learn the F1 series games, i am now hooked on Forza. I am not the fastest on the track, and not a fanatic, but i enjoy sim racing a lot, and try to get better and faster.
