The settings of the controller for Xbox One on Project Cars is one of the greatest mysteries in the gaming universe. Although the controller was initially unusable when the game first launched, it seems like users had found a somewhat accessible work around. Then came batch, that fixed this, and made the controller a whole lot more user friendly. Non the less, users still complain that it is very sensitive, steering is choppy and too easy to go into a spin.

All things considered, i had expected that Project Cars would come up with a baseline for controller settings, that they feel is acceptable and that users can configure to their liking. As far as i could look, and filtering through suggestions that were made before the batch, i have not been able to find the best controller set up. That said, i don’t even know if the default set up, as it is out of the box is good, and i am just not good enough to use it.

For now, i have messed with the settings and come up with this. It is certainly not perfect, and far from my final set up, but it allows me to keep the car on track, take most corners without oversteer and feels more or less comfortable.

Please note that this is not the perfect set up, but the one i have settled on to start with, simply to set a baseline that i can work on. From here, there will be a lot more fine tuning, and adjustments, to get the best results. In my head, when driving a car in any game, there should be no doubt on wether a certain handling issue is caused by a car set up or a controller setting, so i am trying to figure out a baseline set up for the controller that works.

About The Author

I've been hooked on racing games, ever since the Burnout series back in the late 90s and after going through some painful years trying to learn the F1 series games, i am now hooked on Forza. I am not the fastest on the track, and not a fanatic, but i enjoy sim racing a lot, and try to get better and faster.
