Some of you might now that i recently jumped ship with Forza 7, and have switched my focus to Project Cars 2 and F1 2017 on Xbox now. Forza 7 is still a good game, but it feels like they have shifted their target audience to not include me.

On to Project Cars 2, and things feel a whole lot different. Challenging, serious and interesting! There is a community event at the moment that triggered me. It is a session with a Lamborghini Veneno (LP750-4). The class is Road B and this makes this car a lot harder to drive fast, than i expected!

Imola is a classic racing track, best know for being the track legendary Senna died on. F1 has not raced at it since 2006 and coming from Forza, and it is more or less a brand new challenge for me. I was struggling with especially the last sector of the track, and getting my braking points right. It took me almost 20 laps to get the proper flow and start building speed. Still i am not too confident on the track or the car, but i eventually put in a 1:51.962 (using the controller).

The Lamborghini Veneno is a pretty cool car, once you get used to it. I have previously felt that they were cold and stiff cars to drive on sim games, but once you learn its limits, you can push it quite well around the corners, and accelerate pretty fast, for a road car. I am still struggling with the braking, and feel that i spend too much time slowing down though.

Non the less, i feel i am getting better. I have done over 30 laps in this community event, getting a 1:51.962. This put me at 15th place of the leaderboard, with 4.8 sec to the fastest lap at the moment. I’m falling down the lines quickly though, as faster racers set their times. I’ll keep trying this event, and see how it goes.

What are your lap times around the track in this event? Do you have any tips for others giving this a try?

About The Author

I've been hooked on racing games, ever since the Burnout series back in the late 90s and after going through some painful years trying to learn the F1 series games, i am now hooked on Forza. I am not the fastest on the track, and not a fanatic, but i enjoy sim racing a lot, and try to get better and faster.
